Over the years we have developed our favourite materials, which are not only durable, but aesthetically pleasing. The combination of varying textures and natural colours of these materials, will ensure the building will sit well in the environment. Our favourite combination of materials are as follows - rammed earth/stone

-hand-rendered walls with lime wash paint

- timber

- corten/rusted metal panels

We have many projects where these materials have been showcased in different combinations and the results speak for themselves.

Rammed Earth

Rammed earth has become one of our preferred building materials to incorporate into a building, due to its durability thermal qualities and natural beauty.

We have refined our rammed earth walls to be structurally sound and visually stunning  works of art.

They add thermal mass to the building as well as connecting it visually to the landscape. Although our rammed earth is second to none, we don’t just build exclusively in rammed earth.

If I design a building, I’ll use rammed earth only in positions where it has the most benefit, thermally and aesthetically. Different materials would be selected for other areas of the building where their properties would be of more benefit.

Not only can this make for a more interesting looking structure, it can be more economical.

We can also construct insulated rammed earth, for meeting the highest standards of thermal efficiency.
