Qualification & Experience

Freeburgh Builders have developed a strong and qualified team of tradespeople that offer specialized skills and qualifications in the building industry.  This team is lead and managed by Matt Burgess (left) who also has vast experience in the building industry both here and abroad.

In 1995 Matt finished his carpentry & joinery apprenticeship and since that time he has run his own business and worked continuously in the building trade. Spending two years abroad travelling, working and studying the marvels of the ancient building techniques. Drawing inspiration from such places as, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the temples and gardens of Kyoto, Japan.

With 12 months spent working on a groundbreaking home in British Colombia, Canada, for world renowned rammed earth builder Meror Krayenhoff, of www.SIREwall.com, a home that went on to win British Colombias “House of the Year” at the provincial building awards, as well as a string of environmental awards.

Now a licensed building contractor, Matt designs and builds energy efficient houses and other structures with a distinct style and character.

This hands on building experience enables Matt to identify costs and problems with the construction early in the design process, making jobs run efficiently and helping to eliminate mistakes and the need for too many changes once the construction begins.  Matt still works on his jobs, hands on, every day.
